Sport is keenly embraced at Geraldton Grammar School. In Physical Education classes, your child has the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports including water polo, tennis, cricket, basketball, athletics, AFL 9s, hockey, soccer, cross country, volleyball, badminton, touch rugby, netball, softball and tee-ball.
In addition to Physical Education classes, Year 9 and 10 students can select Sport as an elective which includes a further array of sports such as ultimate frisbee, lacrosse and lawn bowls.
In senior years students can follow the ATAR pathway and complete the Physical Education Studies course which encompasses a practical and written element of sporting performance.
Geraldton Grammar School also offers students an exciting range of outdoor education and recreation options including canoeing, snorkelling, rock climbing, hiking, cycling, golf and surfing.
We are a member of School Sport Western Australia (SSWA) and annually field teams to compete against other country schools in Perth at the Senior High School Country Week and District High School Country Week.
All students participate in Swimming, Cross-country and Athletics and take part in Inter-House and Inter-School competitions throughout the year.
Geraldton Grammar is also a member of the Associated and Catholic Colleges of WA (ACC). ACC is an independent secondary schools sports association providing Sport in the Right Spirit to over 60 schools around the state, adding a further dimension to the sporting arena. In 2019, we will be attending the ACC Swimming and ACC Cross Country carnivals.
Regardless of a student’s physical ability, we believe sport teaches important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, resilience and perseverance. We encourage our students to live balanced lives, where both academic work and physical activity are embraced.
